DCHS Performers – Nick Hart
“Ask Nick Hart why he got into stand-up comedy and he will reply with, “Because all my heroes are dead.” Nick Hart was a very special child that earned such praise as “Plays well with others.” His parents always thought he would be a priest or politician but Nick is after the Truth, hence, the choice to do stand-up comedy.
After two and a half years of running all over the midwest hitting any open mic he could find, Nick Hart is emerging as one of the more promising comics breaking out of the budding Madison stand-up scene. He was one of the top five finalists in the 2010 Madison Stand-Up Comedy Competition.
Since then his rise has been quick sharing the stage with Ted Alexandro, Steve Hofstetter, Dwayne Kennedy and Mike Stanley as well as opening for Marc Maron. He was a quarter-finalist in the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta. You’ve also seen him on On Demand’s Who’s Laughing Now? He is a founding member of the collective comedy group, The Isthmians Of Comedy which received stellar reviews in The Onion’s AV Club.
Originally from upstate South Carolina, Nick combines that old southern storytelling tradition with a keen eye and a paranoid view on society that will have you laughing out loud and thinking to yourself and possibly vice-versa. Nick Hart possesses that stray dog charm that grandmothers and anarchists alike find endearing. He is the philosopher’s comic. He is the thinkers comic. He is Stefan Davis’ hero. He is your hero’s comic. He is an enabler with ideas doing his best picking up where his heroes left off, carrying the message wrapped up in the voice of dissent. “
